§ 24-5. Shooting or discharging firearms and other weapons.

  • It shall be unlawful for any person to shoot or discharge any firearm, air rifle or pistol, BB gun, bow and arrow, or any other weapon or device projecting lead, arrows or other missiles or objects within the city, provided that this section shall not apply to law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties, nor to citizens when lawfully defending themselves or their property, nor to a school of learning where firearms or archery is taught; provided further that this section shall not apply to parcels of property zoned A-1 of 20 acres or more, where permitted by the owner thereof for lawful hunting, animal control or target practice, except that the use of rifles is prohibited.
